Cowboy Goes to the Market

Last Saturday was Daanish's first big kids' school Sports Day. It involved Year 1-3 pupils. The title of this post is the name of the event he participated.

We arrived at 7.30 AM and the school compound was already filled with eager parents and children. It was chaotic and rather ill-prepared as people were not sure where to go or what to do. We dropped Daanish off at the tent where all the Yellow House pupils were and as any parents would, we gave him some encouraging words, told him to do his best, and don't forget to have fun.

It was blazing hot!

As we were waiting for the first event to begin, Ayra made a friend. It turned out that her friend's mom used to be my colleague back in Exxon. What a small world!

Unfortunately, Yellow House did not win. They came in last. The boy who went after Daanish was too big and kept falling off the horse. I guess the teachers did not think it through when they assigned the boy to play the game. Nonetheless, our Little Champion had fun. In fact, he was the fastest among his teammates.

Because Daanish was in Group 1, they got to go first. His event ended at about 9 AM and was immediately followed by the prize giving ceremony. By 9.30 AM, we were already on our way home. We profusely uttered Alhamdulillah for being the first few to be out of the sun.
