We just attended the wettest birthday party ever!
My friend held her daughters' birthday party at a fire station in TTDI. When I read the invitation, I had to reconfirm the venue as I thought it was a typo. Apparently, it's a 'thing'.
In the car, on our way to the party, we realized that we had left the presents in the living room, but that didn't ruin our day.
The party started off with some face paintings followed by a demo by the firefighters, cake cutting, and feasting. It then got a bit more interesting when the kids (and some adults) got to go on the fire truck around the station.
It was a hot day and to cool the kids off, the firefighters hosed them down. They ran in excitement and at the end of it, they were all soaked. Daanish thoroughly enjoyed it, but Ayra didn't join in the fun as she was still feeling a bit under the weather.
I, on the other hand, was bummed out because they didn't let us go down the pole. I so wanted to try that!
Anyway, in case you're wondering, there are no fees for you to hold a birthday party at a fire station. You just have to make sure the date you choose is available and arrange your own food, tables, and chairs. Voluntary contribution is, of course, encouraged.
