On their birthdays, one of the surprises the kids would usually get is what or how their birthday cake would look like.
Initially, when asked, Daanish said he wanted a Minecraft cake. Then, he changed his mind to a Batman cake. Two weeks before his birthday, he finally decided that he wanted a shark cake. He even described how it should look like.
We contacted a very talented baker from Shah Alam via Instagram and showed her a few pictures of the cake we had in mind. She put her own little twist to it and, voilà , a super realistic-looking shark head swallowing a tiny man holding up 7 tiny fingers (signifying Daanish's age). With the price we paid and how it turned out, we were very pleased and would not hesitate to repeat our order in the future. Her handle is @yazminariffin. Go look her up!
That morning, Daanish was really excited when he first saw his birthday cake and couldn't wait to cut its head open. We arranged presents around the cake, which made him even more excited!
We had a few family members over for a wholesome brunch (briyani from Syed Bistro in Seksyen 9) and cake (or should I say, 'fish head').
It took us 40 minutes to wrap his presents, but only took him (and his 'helpful' sister) less than 10 minutes to tear them open. The things you do for your children...
At the end of the day, we ended up with a halved shark head in the fridge.
