Beautiful City of Brisbane

From Gold Coast, we drove back to Brisbane and spent 4 nights there before flying back home. Initially, we planned to only spend 2 nights, but the flight we were supposed to be on was cancelled. So, we had to extend our stay to catch the next flight to KL.

The first thing we did when we arrived was to return the rentals. We weren't planning to drive in the city as parking in Brisbane is really expensive.

Accommodation

We stayed at Meriton Suites Herschel Street, #4 tallest building in the CBD. Our apartment was on the 71st floor and the view was breathtaking, overlooking the Brisbane River. Its location is very strategic as it is near a train station, Woolworths and a few good coffee shops.

Having spent a night at the same establishment in Gold Coast, this 3-bedroom unit was way too small. All the rooms were equal in size. They could fit a queen bed, a wardrobe and nothing else, not even our luggages.

Overall, it was all right. The kids loved it as they got to spend a lot of time with their cousins running around the apartment and taking long baths together.

The first day, it rained almost the entire day. We were second-guessing ourselves to leave the apartment. We ended up being stuck indoors and only left the apartment to get food.

The next day, the weather improved. We went across the river and took a relaxing stroll along the riverbank. It was just beautiful and so peaceful. We stopped for lunch while the kids had fun at the nearby playground.

Due to the pandemic, there wasn't much to do. When we were about to leave, we noticed there was a market being set up. Would've been awesome to have a browse through, but we decided not to stay because it was not a good time to be in the crowds.

Shopping

This was actually the best part. We absolutely love Kmart and Target! On the last day, we went a little crazy and had to buy an extra luggage because the ones we brought could not possibly fit the amount of stuff we had just bought.

Shopping for the kids was so much fun. The toys were crazy cheap compared to KL and the quality of those made in China was impeccable. Nothing like we've ever seen back home, especially the wooden toys for Aleesa. The kids' garments were well designed and on sale throughout.

Before this, I had no idea Australia is the source for all minimalist interior decor items. I was captivated as I walked through the "Home" aisles. I wanted to buy everything! I realized I couldn't, so I bought a towel rack, door stoppers and some crockery, just to name a few.

My sister-in-law bought a coffee machine and it was a steal!

The next time I'm in Australia, I'd be sure to visit Kmart and Target upon touchdown. Oh, and also bring a few empty luggages!
