Caversham Wildlife Park

Like last year, my family and I were again invited to attend the company's Christmas party in Perth last week. This time, we didn't spend the entire week there because I had to entertain a colleague of mine in KL before flying off to Perth.

On the day we arrived, the weather was very weird. Apparently, damaging winds had hit the Perth metropolitan area just before lunctime on Wednesday, but the severe weather warning was called off the next day. We were too lucky! Else, we would've been spending our days in Perth locked in our hotel room.

This time, we decided to stay somewhere closer to the office. So, we ended up spending the 4 nights at Assured Ascot Quays Apartment Hotel. The apartment was fine and decent in size, but the view was terrible because our room was at the corner and overlooked the Great Eastern Highway, which was being worked on extensively. The hotel didn't have a nice surrounding, unlike the one we stayed at last year. Oh well, you win some, you lose some!

As usual, I had to work for the 2 days we were there. It was unfortunate that we couldn't do anything after work because (1) in Perth, all the shops and malls close at 5.30 PM every weekday, and (2) I had to work late on both days. We didn't even go out for dinner. So, we cooked.

The highlight of our trip this time was the Caversham Wildlife Park. We got to feed the kangaroos, touch the koalas, hold a python, pat the goats, and take pictures with a wombat. Daanish wasn't afraid of any of the animals. It was so much fun watching him feed the kangaroos.

We did a bit of shopping in the morning before leaving for KL on Sunday afternoon.

I just realized that that was Daanish's second overseas trip this year and fourth overall. When I was his age, I don't think I even travelled out of the state!
